Amy Williams MBE

Britain's first Winter Olympic gold medallist for 30 year, Amy Williams has been appointed an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours

Amy Williams' year continues to go from strength to strength as she has now been appointed an MBE by her majesty the Queen. Amy was the first British gold medallist in an individual event at the Winter Olympics for 30 years and can add another amazing accolade to a fantastic 2010 that earlier this month saw her become the first woman to be made a freeman of the City of Bath.

When asked about her feelings on the matter, Amy commented that "this is a huge honour and a privilege. I'm so proud. I was absolutely stunned and completely blown away when I heard. This really caps what has been an amazing few months since I returned from Vancouver. I'm really excited about going to Buckingham Palace. I can't wait."

Congratulations to Amy from all at MTC.
