Brad And Lizzie Target Medals
Bradley Wiggins and Lizzie Armitstead will both be in action at the UCI World Track Championships in Mendriso, Switzerland
Wiggins intends to finish the 2009 season in style with a medal in the time-trial on Thursday, although he has acknoweldged that Fabian Cancellara will be tough to beat;
‘Nobody in their right mind would ever mouth off saying they are going to beat Fabian Cancellara, he is one of the 'greats' and a rider I admire. But I'm going to give it a good shot. I've kept going since the Tour with this one big final race in mind. I want to sign off 2009 with a medal'
In comparison, Lizzie Armitstead will be teaming up with Emma Pooley, Nicole Cooke and Sharon Laws to form the strongest women's road race team Great Britain has ever fielded. Following her 3rd place finish on the roads in the Tour de L'Ardeche, Lizzie will be aiming high when the road race begins this Saturday.
Schedule of events
Thursday, September 24th
11:30-17:00: Individual time trial - Elite men, 49.8km
Saturday, September 26th
09:00-12:30: Road race - Elite women, 124.2km
