Team Sky Qatar Update

Team Sky Won the Qatar Opener and had a great day on stage five...

Following his well publicised move from Garmin, Bradley let his pedals do the talking as he helped power his team mates to victory in the opening stage of the Tour of Qatar. Team Sky recorded a time of 9mins 41secs on the 8.2km circuit to finish well ahead of their main rivals, the Cervelo TestTeam and Garmin-Transitions, who both clocked 9min 49sec. Wiggins commented;

"What a great start...it's good to put all the talking behind and get on with the racing. To get on the road in a Sky skinsuit and do a performance like that sums everything up...'

The victory demonstrated the lengths to which the team had gone to ensure that failure would not have owed to a lack of planning;

"We specialise in putting gameplans together for an event that is so controllable in so many ways...At every one of the seven roundabouts everyone knew where they had to be on the road. Whoever was driving the juggernaut was thinking about the rear end of it too, and making sure there was room for eight guys across the road in the wind. It's all little bits of attention to detail..."

Stage five of the Tour of Qatar saw Team Sky take another small but significant step forwards as the team worked hard to pull back a dangerous front echelon in the fast-moving final kilometres.

Bradley was part of the line of riders at the front of the second echelon that worked hard to pull the front group back and said "it was good to get involved and stuck in. It's taken us a few days to find our legs as a team but today went really well. We had to use everyone up to close that gap, inching and inching our way back and finally getting it."

When asked about how he personally felt, Bradley reported that he "was feeling good [but] erring on the side of caution because I don't want to end my season here."

Team Sky will be looking to finish the final stage of the tour today in the same manner as how they stated the tour on Sunday, with a victory. Be sure to tune into Eurosport from 11am to see how Bradley and Team Sky fare.
