Euro Bronze For Amy

In just her 2nd race of the season, Amy Williams secured a bronze medal at the European Championships on a snowy track in Winterberg, Germany.

The European Championships, which were run alongside the 5th World Cup event of the season, saw the 28 year old produce the fourth-fastest time on the second run to overtake last year's world number one, Mellisa Hollingsworth, and Germany's Marion Thees to take 5th spot in the final standings.

GB Head Coach Micky Gruenberger was full of praise for the Olympic champion;

"Amy had some disadvantage due to a snow shower just prior to her run but recorded the highest speed on the second run of the whole field",

Amy, who is in pursuit of points to qualify for next month's Skeleton World Championships in Konigssee, Germany - will take great encouragement from her performance as she gets ready to compete in St Moritz, Switzerland next week.
