Funding Boost For Athletes
MTC Track and field stars to receive cash injection as part of the lottery funding programme…
UK Athletics chief executive Niels de Vos has set a target of 10 medals for GB to win at London 2012. To achieve said target, the national governing body has revealed new details into the levels of funding available for athletes who adhere to strict criteria and standards as set by UKA.
The two levels of funding - Podium and Development - will ensure a welcomed injection of cash for a number of our Athletes. Those who have been rewarded with full funding under the podium criteria are Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, Phillips Idowu, Germaine Mason, Lee McConnell and Kelly Sotherton. Craig Pickering will receive funding under the Podium relay criteria and Perri Shakes-Drayton has been named in the Development criteria which reward athletes who have demonstrated increased levels of world class performance over the last 18 months.
