Paul Takes Bronze in Test Event

Paul Goodison finished strongly securing his place on the podium at the London 2012 Sailing Test Event.

After a difficult start to the regatta, in extremely challenging conditions, Paul showed his pedigree on the penultimate day of sailing. He propelled himself into fifth position with only the medal race to contest.

Paul, the current Olympic Champion in the Laser class, demonstrated his wealth of experience and skill to win the final race in the regatta and secure himself a bronze medal. Paul was pleased with his performance in the final days of the Test Event but acknowledged there was work to do before he takes to the water in 2012:

"It's good for character to show that you can finish strong, that you can pick yourself up when your down, but I know need to address starting off regattas better," admitted Goodison.

"The big pressure here has been just trying to medal. That's been the real focus because selection is in the back of your mind, and all the issues that come with that.

"Hopefully I can get that all done and dusted as soon as possible, and then concentrate on winning that Olympic gold again."
