PB's For Harry And Perri

European Under 23 Champions claim PB's at the Aviva World Trials and UK championships in Sheffield…

Harry Aikines-Aryeetey made a superb improvement on his previous personal best as he finished second behind Dwain Chambers in a time of 6.55 ahead of third placed Craig Pickering. Speaking after the race, Harry was quick to attribute the performance to the hard work he put in during warm weather training in South Africa;

"I felt awesome. This is what you want. I've been training really hard. I'm so happy, my last few indoor seasons have been good but they've not been quite there. This time I just put the race together. I ran an amazing semi-final. I didn't know how I was going to get from 6.70 to 6.55. I just knew that things have been going really well. Finally it's nice to be back in the mix again"

Perri Shakes-Drayton put in an equally impressive performance by gaining a PB in the 800m clocking a time of 2:10.86. Whilst not good enough to qualify for the final, the time shaved 5 seconds off her previous PB and fully justified coach Chris Zah's decision to enter her into the event which showcased obvious signs of improvement in her speed and endurance over a longer distance.

Both results bode well for the season ahead - keep up the good work Harry and Perri!
