Idowu Seeks Stockholm Victory
World Triple Jump Champ looking to kick-start his season at the GE Galan…
The Belgrave Harrier will be looking to iron out the technical aspects of his jump which have so far prevented him from landing ‘the big one' in his previous two competitions of 2010. Once again he will face tough opposition in the form of home favourite Christian Olson and Cuban David Giralt who prevailed at the Samsung Galan meeting in Gothenburg last weekend.
Crucially, Phillips is well aware of where he's been going wrong and what he needs to do to improve;
"Coming out of the hop into the step I just wasn't active enough on the ground to prepare myself into the next phase...I was collapsing out of the hop, I was collapsing out of the step and therefore I wasn't able to get a decent jump..."
Having acknowledged a bit of early season rustiness, Phillips is determined to use the Stockholm meet as a platform from which to hop, step and jump back to winning ways.
