Ride Across Britain Abandoned

James Cracknell and Rebecca Romero are forced to abandon their record attempt

At Johnston Bridge, Scotland, James and Rebecca were forced to abandon their non-stop mixed tandem record attempt to ride from Land's End to John O'Groats after 29 hours of cycling.

Race organisers asked Rebecca to stop after receiving medical advice from doctors who said there was a possibility that there could be long term damage to her knees. Whilst disappointed not to have completed the attempt, the fact that the pair were ahead of schedule and received huge support on their way, James has already mentioned he would sincerely like to try what he called 'the special route' again at some stage.

Given his track record, there is little doubt James will one day conquer the Ride Across Britain in record time. The question remains, who will be his next partner?
