Jenny Takes UK Title

Jenny Meadows has secured her first senior outdoor UK title after several years of missing out on the top spot.

Having won 7 indoor national titles it was almost unthinkable that Jenny had never held the outdoor title in senior competition, until now that is. Jenny has medalled in the last 2 major athletics Championships and is one of Britain's most consistently successful athletes. With 2 diamond league victories to her name this year, Jenny was keen to cement her status as the fastest female 800 metre runner in the UK.

Although the race was not overly quick Jenny got her tactics spot on to win the title, sprinting away from her competitors in the home straight. Jenny is the only female British athlete to have run under 2minutes for the 800 metres this year. Crossing the line in a time of 2:02.28 minutes Jenny showed she excels at both fast and tactical 800m races, and shall be one to watch at the upcoming World Championships.

After the race Jenny was understandably delighted with the result:

"It's such a relief; I've always wanted to win this title."
"It's amazing to get global medals but for me, it's still important to be UK champion so I'm really thrilled that I've managed to do it.
