Liz Completes Water Feat

Liz Johnson was awarded with the prestigious job of laying the final tile in the Olympic aquatics centre swimming pool.

The Paralympic swimming champion, Liz, laid the final tile to mark the completion of building work at the Aquatics Centre and only 500 days till the beginning of the 2012 Paralympics.

After laying the 180,000th tile at the venue, she said:

"You can really imagine what the atmosphere will be like in 500 days' time in such a fantastic venue.

"I can't wait to compete at the Aquatics Centre in front of thousands of fans and it's great that it will be available for everyone to use once the Games have finished."

Liz's immediate focus is on winning a medal at the European Championships in July; but with only 500 days to go until London 2012, repeating her performance in Beijing and defending her 50m Butterfly title are also on her agenda.

"Beijing was the proudest moment of my career but the problem with having won a Paralympic gold medal is that you know how good it feels,"

"Before you win you imagine what it will be like, then you realise it is even better than you could possibly think. It makes you want to experience that feeling even more."
