Phillips, Perri, Harry, Doha...!
Phillips Idowu, Harry AA and Perri Shakes-Drayton will head to Qatar to represent Great Britain in the Athletics World Indoor Championships
The Athletics World Indoor Championships are due to start on March 12th and defending triple jump champion Phillips Idowu will spearhead a British team that will hope to medal well in Qatar.
Phillips will be defending the World Indoor title he won in Valencia two years ago and will head to Doha feeling positive in living up to his pre-tournament favourite tag fresh off the back of a season's best and safe in the knowledge that he has become renowned for rising to the challenge at major championships.
Great Britain will be looking for Idowu to be a medalist and if Phillips can produce a good performance, there are very few in the world that can stop him from claiming yet another title.
The former World Junior 100m and 200m champion, Harry Aikines-Aryeetey shall be looking to make his mark in Doha as he is now a fully recognised member of the GB team. Despite his tender years, Harry has been a part of Team GB for a few years but he is now starting to realise his undoubted potential and after clocking up a time of 6.55 earlier this year, just 0.05 seconds outside of the World's leading time in 2010, there is every chance that Harry can make a big impression at senior level.
The UK Athletics selectors have recognised the marvellous talents that Perri Shakes-Drayton possesses as she has been called up to represent Great Britain as part of the 400m relay squad. Perri's main event is the 400m hurdles but her speed is such that she has been called into the 400m relay squad where no doubt she will further enhance her blossoming reputation as a potential medallist come 2012.
