Phillips Stars In 2012 Cartoon

Phillips Idowu has been selected to star in a new cartoon celebrating the London 2012 Olympics, which is written by children's author Michael Morpurgo

World Triple Jump Champion Phillips Idowu has been turned in to a cartoon for a new cartoon celebrating the London 2012 Olympic Games, created by children's author Michael Morpurgo. The unmistakable figure of Phillips leaping in to the pit, complete with trademark brightly-coloured hair, signature head and wristbands plus his ear and face piercings have been included in the cartoon.

Phillips admitted that he loved being turned in to a children's cartoon for the Olympics and said "I think the model and the animation are really, really cool. It is a great piece and I feel honoured to be part of it. There are lots of things within the cartoon that kids will get a real sense of what the Olympics is about" but highlighted that although he was delighted with cartoon he is "really not that vain"

Phillips was part of a select few British London 2012 hopefuls who feature alongside mascots Wenlock and Mandeville in a new education cartoon as part of the Cultural Olympiad. Wenlock, the Olympic mascot, and Mandeville, the Paralympic mascot, are on an adventure across Britain trying to encourage youngsters to take up sport.

London 2012 chairman Lord Coe the film "follows Wenlock and Mandeville, who have been travelling around the UK meeting sports stars, children at schools in the London 2012 Get Set education programme and community groups and inspiring young people to choose sport as we head towards the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games."

The film, entitled Adventures on a Rainbow, is available to view by clicking here.
