Wiggins To Miss Catalunya
Bradley Wiggins has been forced to sit out the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya due to a stomach infection
Having missed vital time on the bike, Team Sky's coaches and sports directors made the decision to withdraw Bradley from the Spanish stage race. Dave Brailsford explained;
"Unfortunately, Bradley wasn't able to race in Spain this week, but we're going to assess the situation quickly and adjust his race programme so that nothing is jeopardized...He has already proven this year that he is well on his way form-wise so we'll be able to get him back into our race programme fairly easy"
As Team Sky's team principal rightly points out, the form he's shown this season, most notably in the Tour of Mercia, will mean he'll be disappointed to miss out but with the Tour de France at the forefront of his plans, the right decision has been made.
