World Champs For Lizzie And Dave
Lizzie Armitstead and Dave Daniell have been named in the GB Track World Championship Squad...
British Cycling has announced the line-up for the forthcoming UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark. Lizzie Armitstead will be competing alongside Wendy Houvenaghel and Joanna Rowsell in the women's team pursuit, and the British trio line up as the favourites to defend their world champion status.
Dave Daniell has been named in a strong Men's Sprint team alongside Matt Crampton, Ross Edgar, Jason Kenny and Sir Chris Hoy. Dave will be looking to use the championships as a further opportunity to showcase his exceptional talent and stamp his authority in the men's sprinting discipline on a world stage.
The Championships get underway later this month (March 24-28) and with London 2012 in the not to distant future, GB cycling performance manager Shane Sutton suggested that these championships will be used as preparation to the Olympics. Sutton said "we know what is going to be needed at the London Olympics so we need to go to the Worlds and assess where we are and how far we have got to go."
Lizzie, Dave and the rest of the team will all be looking to cement British Cycling's domination in the sport with strong performances.
