One half of Team GB's number 1 ranked Beach Volleyball players, Denise, together with playing partner Lucy Boulton, have their sights firmly set on demonstrating their talents on home soil at next year's Olympics at the specially-built arena at the horse guards parade by Buckingham palace. The Boulton-Johns team will be looking to continue where they left off at the Horse Guards when they performed brilliantly to place 4^th at the Visa 2012 Test Event earlier in the year, beating the world's number 1 ranked pairing en route in the quarter-finals.

Denise turned professional in 2003 and achieved immediate success that year, winning the Association of Volleyball Professionals Championship, otherwise known as the AVPNext Championships. The following three years saw Denise twice finish fifth in the AVP Championships and at the end of the 2006 season; Denise joined forces with Lucy Boulton and together they have attained worldwide recognition. Competing every year on the FIVB world tour since their formation, Boulton-Johns have managed a highly respectable best finish of 13th,whilst also narrowly missing out on a medal in the CEV European Tour finishing 4th.
Team and personal accolades have followed suit. Denise was honoured as the most inspirational player on the FIVB 2010 tour and best attacker on the VEBT tour in 2009. Accompanied with team honours including being crowned British Beach Volleyball Champions in 2007, 2008 and 2009, victories in the Swedish Tour in 2009 and 2010, and podium finishes in the Czech tour in 2010, the New Zealand event and the Australian domestic tour in 2011, Denise's form and consistency is improving ahead of London 2012.

Born in Luxembourg and raised in the USA, Denise qualified to represent Great Britain through her father's side of the family. Not only good looking with a beach body, Denise has the intelligence to match having graduated with a degree in architecture from the University of Cincinnati, where she was on a sports scholarship, being part of the crew team for 5 years.
